TEN TO ONE CELEBRATES WITH WEEKEND SPECIALS

Ten to One Founder and CEO Marc Farrell and Co-owner Ciara display bottles of Ten to One’s award-winning Dark and White Rums.

THURSDAY, 28 SEPT 2023: Port of Spain – If you’ve been waiting to try the award-winning Ten to One rum, founded by Trinidadian Marc Farrell, this weekend is the time. Ten to One is celebrating its growing community in Trinidad and Tobago by offering a series of drinks specials and sales to mark the first day of the tenth month – its own Ten/One day – in a nod to its culturally significant name.

First launched in New York in 2019, Ten to One is on a mission to challenge many of the limiting and often outdated perceptions of the rum category, while also shining a light on contemporary Caribbean culture. The brand name is part of its Caribbean story – the phrase “Ten to One” flows off the tongue easily to the beat of the Mighty Sparrow but holds a deeper meaning for the brand about the importance of Caribbean community.

“The name was inspired by a famous phrase from Dr. Eric Williams. When rallying to save the first West Indies Federation of 10 countries, he said, ‘One from ten leaves nought’, reflecting the idea that we are stronger together than apart,” shared Farrell. “For us at Ten to One, the name speaks to overcoming great odds and to the beauty in our unique pan-Caribbean blend.”

The current Ten to One portfolio blends rums from all over the Caribbean, including Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, and the Dominican Republic. In just four years, the brand has received more than 75 awards for its exceptional offerings, with its extra-proof white rum recently lauded as the world’s best at the prestigious 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

The high-quality product was also a draw to Grammy award-winning artist Ciara, who joined Farrell as an investor, co-owner and director of Ten to One in 2021.

Pandemic lockdowns forced a slow entry into the local market, so Ten to One is making up for lost time with its upcoming appreciation weekend dedicated to its local community. Participating bars, restaurants and Massy Stores will run specials on Ten to One all weekend, leading up to Sunday 1st October. The participating locations include Avala Restaurant Bar and Lounge, Buzz Bar (all locations), 519 Restaurant and Bar, Offside Restaurant and Bar, Mr. Rango’s, Bottles and Bites, Bal-Tar-Zzar Restaurant and Nice Place Bar.

About Ten to One Rum

Launched in New York by Trinidadian Marc-Kwesi Farrell in 2019, Ten To One is a range of ultra-premium Caribbean rums designed to challenge expectations and change the way people taste, experience, and talk about rum. In 2021, Grammy award winning musician and entrepreneur, Ciara, joined as an investor, co-owner and director for the brand.

Ten To One endeavours to build a brand that is “elevated but not exclusive,” grounded in authentic elements of Caribbean culture and heritage. The brand also stands out by being 100% rum with no additives of any kind – no added sugar, colouring, or flavouring.

The current portfolio blends rums from all over the Caribbean, including Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, the Dominican Republic and Barbados, and currently includes several expressions: an extra proof white rum named Best White Rum by the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits

Competition, an aged dark rum, an Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish rum, and a number of soldout, special edition bottles.
