TEN TO ONE WINS TWO DOUBLE GOLDS AT PRESTIGIOUS GLOBAL COMPETITION
THURSDAY, 20 JULY 2023: PORT OF SPAIN – Ten to One Rum, founded by Trinidadian Marc Farrell, was recently named by the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) as one of the best rums in the world. Ten to One was one of only two rums to receive multiple Double Gold medals in this year’s competition, and the brand’s extra-proof white rum took home the title of “Best In Class” in the white rum category.
Founded in 2000, the SFWSC is the largest and most prestigious spirits competition in North America. Sixty-five judges from around the globe evaluated approximately 5,500 spirits over three days in April 2023. Ten to One’s White Rum captured the judges’ palates with its arresting floral and grassy notes coupled with its exceptional flavour profile and versatility. It also stands out by being 100% rum with no additives of any kind – no added sugar, colouring, or flavouring.
Farrell, born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago and now based in New York, shared that “Our success at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition is a testament to our mission to redefine the white rum category. Our blend continues to raise the bar and challenge expectations as to what a white rum can deliver. We’ve created the ultimate companion for craft cocktails that combines elegantly to create a smooth finish, but our White Rum is also great for sipping solo.”
Launched in 2019, Ten to One’s current portfolio blends rums from all over the Caribbean, including Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, the Dominican Republic and Barbados, and currently includes several expressions: the extra-proof White Rum named Best White Rum by the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, an award-winning Aged Dark Rum, an Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish rum, and an outstanding 17 Year Single Cask Reserve Rum. All of these are available in Trinidad & Tobago.
This award recognition from SFWSC joins a long list of accolades already bestowed on Ten to One, which has earned more than 75 international awards for its exceptional pan-Caribbean blends since its launch. “At Ten to One, we are extremely proud to be showcasing Caribbean exceptionalism on a global stage,” said Farrell.
