WEDNESDAY MAY 9, 2007 - PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD & TOBAGO: GE Oil & Gas, a business division of GE Infrastructure, today opened its new state-of-the-art maintenance facility in Point Fortin, Trinidad. The GE Oil & Gas Maintenance Center is located on the Atlantic LNG (ALNG) compound and the facility is part of a US$400 million, 17-year contractual service agreement with ALNG signed in July 2005.

The center currently employs 30 people and maximizes local skills.

Senator the Hon. Christine Sahadeo, Acting Minister of Energy and Energy Industries officiated at the event. John Rice, Vice Chairman of GE and President and CEO of GE Infrastructure was in Trinidad for the opening.

Mr. Rice told guests, which included prominent members of the local business community, that "GE believes in Trinidad and Tobago and this country is extremely important for our company.”

According to Rice, "it is noteworthy that Trinidad and Tobago is one of the most significant recipients of direct foreign investment in the western hemisphere."

Rice confirmed that GE already has significant investments in Trinidad and Tobago and is interested in having a stronger presence here.

He added that the relationship between GE and Atlantic LNG will go a long way in assisting that company in meeting the growing demand for Liquified Natural Gas.

Along with achieving an extra year of production for ALNG by reducing outage durations and extending maintenance intervals, GE's contractual services team has been working to enhance the plant availability while ensuring the highest safety standards. The team will continue to utilize knowledge developed through GE's extensive experience with LNG plants.

Mr. Rice pointed out that, "GE Infrastructure is one of the world's leading providers of fundamental technologies to both developed and developing countries." He commended the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and the business sector for "doing a great job in preparing Trinidad and Tobago for developed nation status." GE Oil & Gas is one of the world's leading suppliers of advanced technology compression, power generation and auxiliaries equipment for the oil and gas industry.

Minister Sahadeo joined Mr. Rice in cutting the ceremonial ribbon and unveiling a commemorative plaque at the Facility. Mr. Rice reminded those present that "GE's unmatched technology expertise, local quality and speed and customer-centric approach will set this facility apart from others in the industry and GE recognizes Trinidad and Tobago as a significant participant in the global energy sector."
