DELL Presents Connected Classrooms
Technology solutions that enhance the classroom experience for both educators and students
Wednesday April 14 2010: PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO - More than sixty (60) public and private school educators participated in the first Connected Classroom seminar hosted by Dell which took place today at the Jade Ruby Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Port of Spain.
By working closely with educators, Dell has designed technology solutions that help propel students, teachers and schools to a higher level of performance. During this event, Dell presented the latest technology solutions and developments geared towards education in the classroom. The presentation included the simulation of a Connection Classroom, conducted by Roberto Rene Picado, Education Marketing Manager for Latin America; and Valorie Loomer, VP of Strategic Accounts for elnstruction.
“Our students have grown up in the connected era; they have more access to technology and information than any other generation. The world is at their fingertips; a world where they can interact through technology, not only with words, but with moving images and sounds,” said Roberto Rene Picado, Education Marketing Manager for Latin America. “Today's educators have to prepare the “connected generation” with the skills necessary to succeed in an evolving digital world.”
During the Connected Classroom event, the participants had the opportunity to test the solutions and key products of this program such as: the Latitude 2100 portable notebook designed for students, the Latitude XT2 Tablet PC for educators, interactive blackboards, software programs that manage classrooms and professional service support; equipment designed to provide integrated solutions in the classroom.
Dell has two Latitude models for students: The Latitude 2100 is the first to offer an optional touch screen for greater interaction and efficiency for students, as well as for students with special needs; while the Latitude E-FamiIy is designed for a wider range of applications and programs giving the students more versatility.
For educators, the Latitude XT2 Tablet PC is a portable, lightweight device featuring outstanding performance with a touch screen and a pen that provides greater interaction between the student and the educator.
The system also includes a “clicked”, a personal response device that allows the educator to measure in real time the understanding of the subject that is being taught and can make adjustments or emphasis in the classroom if necessary. “It’s all about a personalized interactive educational model. Not only does it change the way we teach but it enriches the learning experience for the student, " emphasized Picado.
With the support of interactive blackboards, software programs that manage the classroom and response systems for the students, the interactive application Connected Classroom, allows the educator to create lesson plans for different types of learning styles. This way the educator can personalize lessons according to the needs of the students and stimulate the collaboration and communication of ideas by means of technology.
The event also had the participation of Adam Garry, Program Consultant for Professional Development and Classrooms for the 21 st Century for Dell, who talked about the most recent education tendencies of the highest level and education solutions for Dell.
