Motorola- One of the largest agricultural producers in Jamaica enhances efficiency by deploying Motorola technology

Jamaica Broilers Group of Companies has deployed Mobile Enterprise Mobility solutions with the purpose of identifying and tracking processed food as they move in the supply chain

KINGSTON, Jamaica -November 19, 2008—. Jamaica Broilers Group of Companies, one of the largest agricultural producers in the country, has chosen Motorola Enterprise Mobile solutions to further enhance the identification and distribution of food as they develop their supply chain.

The company needed to implement an efficient technology to face two major issues: in the first place, to identify and track processed food as they leave the supply chain, after being processed and packed in a non-standardized way and directly sent to supermarkets. Also, as the company develops fresh products, more than once there is a weight loss during the processing stage. Therefore, the company needed to consider this variation experienced by the product to avoid using inaccurate information in the operation process.

This is the reason why Jamaica Broilers implemented the final integration of Catch-Weight and Route Management Solutions from MultiSystems, which helped the distribution department to deliver and invoice processed and weighed food units through a serial number and correct the weight variation.

Jamaica Broilers also needed to capture the customer order through a mobile computer, capable of exploring different label formats and populating the correct fields within the Host System. Immediate access to vital customers and inventory information was also considered. The mobile unit was also capable of collecting key information about schedules, inventory, credit status, among others, with in real-time communication from the central office.

“After much research, we found that Multisystems and Enterprise Mobility solutions from Motorola were the best option to fine-tune and maximize our production system since we could efficiently control the distribution of our products” stated Christopher Ramdon, Jamaica Broilers IT Manager.

"Multisystems and Motorola mobility solutions help control and make the company more efficient throughout the production chain and even after the product leaves the company’s facilities, by enhancing the logistics, distribution and commercialization processes”, stated Alfred Navarro, Sr. Channel Manager Latin America. Motorola MC 9090 were chosen in their different versions for warehousing and roads as well as Motorola's wireless networks WS5100.
