DIGICEL FOUNDATION AND THE ROTARY CLUB POS WEST CLEAN UP THE FORESHORE
MONDAY 30 SEPTEMBER 2024, PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO – On Saturday, September 21, Digicel’s ‘Red Army’ of staff volunteers and their families participated in the International Coastal Cleanup of the Foreshore. This marked the second year of a successful International Coastal Cleanup Day partnership between Digicel Foundation and the Rotary Club of Port of Spain West.
Other key organisations lending their support in the Foreshore clean-up initiative included the Rotaract Club of Port of Spain West, Rotary and Rotaract Maraval, Magic Mist Services, Coastal Dynamics, Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, and Fatima College.
Desha Clifford, Chair of the Digicel Foundation, underscored the significance of community partnerships in driving environmental stewardship: "We are not just cleaning our coastlines; we are fostering a culture of stewardship and responsibility towards our planet. This initiative reflects Digicel Foundation’s commitment to sustainability, staff engagement, and we are proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Rotary Club in making a tangible difference for generations to come."
Over 25 of Digicel’s staff participated, with volunteer Curshena Spencer sharing: "I am truly honoured to be part of the International Coastal Cleanup. This opportunity not only allows us to give back but also strengthens team morale. Volunteering today reminds me that even small actions can lead to significant change, and I’m proud to contribute to a cleaner, healthier nation."
