Digicel Opens its Doors

Over 200 Retails Stores Open for Business; Largest and Most Reliable Network Revolutionising Mobile Telecommunications Market

THURSDAY, APRIL 6TH 2005 - PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD & TOBAGO: Digicel T&T, the country's largest and most reliable network, launched services in Trinidad and Tobago today with the opening of more than 200 retail stores which had mobile customers gathering from as early as 6am to at last enjoy the Digicel experience of choice and superior services from their mobile provider.

Just some of the attractive services and offerings that Digicel is bringing to Trinidad & Tobago include over 10,000 Top Up locations across the nation from Icacos to Charloteville, meaning Digicel customers can top up anytime and anywhere; 24x7 excellent customer care, competitive rates with two prepaid plans to choose from and flexible postpaid plans, free voicemail retrieval and a great in store experience. Amongst Digicel's range of trendy handsets is the new sophisticated and hitech Motorola PEBL U6.

"History is being made here today," declared Digicel retailer, Yudhi Samaroo, at the official opening of his Digicel retail store at Independence Square, Port of Spain this morning, attended by Digicel T&T CEO Mr Stephen Brewer.

Yudhi Samaroo is just one of the many Trinibagonian entrepreneurs who have invested in this virtual revolution in the country's telecommunications market by becoming a Digicel retailer. 'We expected a great response when we opened the store today but even our expectations have been exceeded. People are really excited about the Digicel Experience and want to be a part of the Caribbean's largest and most reliable network" he added.

To date, Digicel has invested over US$1 billion in Caribbean economies including an investment of TT$1 .9 billion in the Trinidad & Tobago market to create a state of the art network and a well trained workforce of over 300. The advanced Digicel GSM network stands leagues ahead in terms of the quality and reliability of mobile communications to which wireless users in T&T had grown accustomed.

According to Mr Stephen Brewer, Digicel T&T CEO: "Digicel and the citizens of Trinidad & Tobago prevailed in creating competition in the market delivering benefits for customers and businesses that want better communication services. Communications technology is at the heart of a nation and the needs of consumers in Trinidad & Tobago has gone underserved for far too long. That has all changed today and we are proud to be a part of this change in the country's history."

Over the past six months Digicel has shown an early commitment to communities in Trinidad & Tobago through the sponsorship of youth-led programmes such as the Harvard Cricket Clinic, cultural exhibitions such as Carnival and a close association with T&T indigenous Soca and Calypso music through personal endorsement partnerships with leading entertainers David Rudder and Destra Garcia.
