PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO. Tuesday 28th June 2022: With the threat of the tropical storm bearing down on Trinidad and Tobago, Digicel has put its emergency contingency plan into high gear to ensure that everything is in place to best manage the events of the coming days. This plan includes robust customer communications, technical updates, site management, logistics coordination and servicing and refuelling generators.

Specifically, Digicel has ensured that all of its hundreds of cell sites across the island are in good order and ready to go. Their technical team and contractors have been working behind the scenes going through readiness checklists, drills and testing of equipment to ensure all is at its best.

Digicel’s Crisis Management Team will continue to monitor and track the tropical storm as it forms and gathers strength. In urging everyone to do all they can to prepare for the storm and to stay safe, Abraham Smith, CEO of Digicel, comments; “Our primary concern is the safety of the people of Trinidad and Tobago and that we keep them connected to friends and family no matter what. We would like to take this opportunity to remind people to take the necessary steps to prepare for the storm by stocking up on basic items, securing their homes, keeping their phones charged and topped-up so that they can communicate with their loved ones.”

He continues; “Likewise, we have done everything possible to ensure that we are prepared for the storm and have mobilised our technical teams and field engineers across the island.” Digicel will continue to keep customers updated using its social media platforms and direct messaging systems.
