Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago – 26 Jan 2026 – The Beetham Community Centre is starting the year on a stronger footing thanks to a technology and learning upgrade led by Digicel staff. The donation provides standard five students with additional support as they prepare for the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA).
Through Digicel Foundation’s Real Connections Campaign, staff members were awarded grants of up to TT$10,000 to support a community project close to their hearts at the start of the New Year. Shenelle Noel, Afiya Solomon, Cherreth Herrera and Dominique Bobb-Percival – the Retention D+ Team – used the funding to equip the Beetham Centre with three desktop computers, a printer, a projector and a tablet, along with a donation of books to strengthen literacy and comprehension skills.
The new resources will allow students to access free tutoring services via the Centre, with more than ten students currently set to access supervised online learning, revision materials and academic guidance in the coming weeks. The Digicel Foundation also facilitated its Safer Internet Together (SIT) training session to equip these young students with essential skills for navigating the digital world responsibly.
“As a parent, I know how important extra support can be, especially during exam preparation,” said Retention Agent Shenelle Noel. “Having access to computers and the internet within the community makes a real difference for children and their families. The tutoring service also provides supervision and academic direction to help the children succeed.”
The initiative is one of six staff-led projects supported by the Digicel Foundation this year, each designed to address specific community needs. Through the Real Connections Campaign, Digicel continues to empower its employees to turn compassion into action, creating meaningful and lasting impact in communities across Trinidad and Tobago.
